[Ex] da Bass – born as Mareks Dainis in 1984. He started his career in 1997. Everything has started with djing at school parties and participation in different dj contests. Then [Ex] da Bass started working at Cesis radio station Saules iela (now known as Progressive FM) and from year 2000 to 2004 he leaded his own electronic music show on it.

Speaks of himself as of an exigent, purposeful, self-conscious, attractive and full of ideas enthusiast with a creative approach and thinking and great party organizing experience. Bright personality. He has become a good dj because of the support of another respected and well-known Latvian dj Trakais Mârtiòð aka Crazy Martin. Undoubtedly [Ex] da Bass’ skills are becoming only better.

You can see him in the act all over the Baltics – at different electronic dance music parties. During his career [Ex] da Bass played on one stage with many popular Latvian djs such as Mixmasters AG and Raitis, the founder of Amber Muse label – Bogdan Taran, also with Electricano, Naitro, NGC-5128, Carrothead, Vitamin, Drozd, Mr.Djinn, Kaspar Kondrat, Andrey Emelyanov, Al Dee, Steve K. From Estonia – with Kolzar, Hirmo, Deejay A.A.V., Meri, Dave Strom, Poroxx, Ruff, Methodik, Finito, Môls, Kert Klaus, Rooma, Lang & Yep, Ukris vs Noismaster, Cool D, Whirl & Mayer. From Lithuania – with progressive masters Marius Ivanoff and
Mindaugelis, with Dutch stars Pavo and Ruben de Ronde, german Westbam, Cosmic Gate, Moguai, Oliver Klitzing, Boris Alexander aka Alex Sword and girl Lona, Cari Lekebush from Sweden, Joe Le Groove From London. He also has played with Russian most talented breakbeat stars Cosmonaut and Compass Vrubell and was also a as warm-up dj for funky / tribal techno dj and producer from Norway – Cave.

Speaking of the clubs it is worth mentioning that [Ex] da Bass has djed in all famous dance clubs in Latvia (Essential, Nautilus, Banzai, Bermuds, Pmk, Tonuss, Pulsç, etc.), also played several times in night clubs Yes, Metro, Exit, Atlantis and Sunset in Estonia.

In 2005 he took part at the Baltic Allen & Heath Mix Contest 2005 dj competition in Lithuania and from 80 paticipiants, where 40 was from Latvia, he get in the final.

On 27th august 2005 he represented Latvia djing in front of 30 000 people on one stage with the father of electronic music – Westbam (Electric Kingdom/Low Spirit) and Estonian best djs at electronic music festival Freedom parade 2005 – The World Is Ours.

On 15th july 2006 he has made the greatest challenge to his career, he represented Baltic states together with Baltic Groove Union in one of the biggest electronic dance music events in the world – Loveparade in Berlin.

In the polling of LATVIAN DJ TOP 10 by club culture internet portal clubbers.lv in 2006 from more than 200 djs in total rating came in honourable 7th place and was 1st among techno dj's, but in the djtop.lv questionnaire 2007 got the 4th most popular dj in Latvia (among techno djs – place no.1).

Another important thing worth mentioning is that he and other four enthusiasts: vjs Pe Joke & Kosmoss, dj GOLdbERG and dj Virus 332 is leading an one of most active and rapidly progressing dj teams in Latvia at this moment – ILLEGAL DJ TEAM RIGA, where [Ex] da Bass represents team’s manager and director. The goal of this team is to popularize electronic dance music and club culture in Latvia and beyond and show people the image of nowadays positive dj. Djing for him is a lifestyle.

[Ex] da Bass most willingly plays energetic and pumping funky / tribal techno with elements of electro, breaks and trance.

Since 1 April 2004 [Ex] da Bass is working at European Hit Radio station’s recording studio.

Starting from the 1st of March 2006 hosts the radio show Party Service, beeing over the airwaives of European Hit Radio every Friday and Saturday evening at 9 pm. It is a broadcast about today significant and noticeable dance music events in Latvia, Baltic and Europe in the most recognized dance clubs and popular entertaining places, as well as chat shows with dj's, producers, organizers and club managers.

In May 2007 finished his work at the first remix. Ella - Welcome To The Club ([Ex] da Bass Remix) was included in the maxi single, which was distributed in Baltic.
